Q:What is threading ?
Threading is one of the most oldest methods of hair removal, practiced in India. Threading is a natural hair removal technique. It is most often used to remove facial hair, especially to shape the eyebrows. First the esthetician uses a baby powder on the skin to prevent discomfort. A line of 100% cotton thread is twisted and rolled over the unwanted hair to gently lift and remove rows or single hair, creating a very clean, precise hairline. This process takes only a small amount of time depending on the amount of hair being removed. After threading, the skin is cleaned using a skin toner. Threading is used on the entire face including Upper lips, Chin, Eyebrows, Sideburns, Cheeks, and Neck.
Q: Does threading hurt?
A: Threading may sound painful, but it is not as painful as it seems. Many people actually prefer threading over waxing. There is no burning, peeling, or irritation and it prevents skin from sagging over time. Facial threading is a good alternative over waxing and tweezing especially for sensitive skin and people on Retin A and Accutane.
Q: How long does it last?
A: Threading removes the hair follicle from the root so the rate of growth is slow. The average amount of time for retouching is two weeks to three weeks. Temporary results can turn into permanent. Over time, frequent threading can cause the hair follicle to become damaged, and it stops growing hair.
Q: How sanitary is the process?
A: It is extremely sanitary. Nothing but the thread touches the skin, and it is thrown away after use. Also, no chemicals are applied on the skin when people have certain circumstances, or are taking medicines which conflict with waxing and sugaring.
Most of all, Threading exfoliates the skin, giving you a mini facial while the hair is being removed.
